But to build on what you said Steph, I do remember a theologian (can’t remember who) that said that one of the reasons hell is so unpleasant isn’t because of the visuals we think of like darkness, fire, or what ever else but because at that point people KNOW that God exist and they begin to have a BURNING DESIRE to know Him but they would of never held a perfect relationship with Him anyways. They want to KNOW God under THEIR conditions, not God’s. Hence, they ended up in Hell. That make sense?

Hell is Hell because it is the absence of God. KNOWING what God is yet being totally and completely for all eternity seperated from Him is as bad as it gets. Even atheists and satanists on Earth don’t have that kind of pain because they don’t “know what they are missing” although that is a somewhat crude way of putting it, lol
