I don’t know if knowing the answer is always good. What I do know (unfortunatly after going through the seminary with the schismatic Lefebvrerites.) Is that when one separates oneself from Christ and His vicar, one leaves oneself in a the position of a ship without a sail or rudder. The ship cast adrift in a hostile sea has little hope of setting anchor at it’s destination. It was no error on our Lord’s part to choose someone as his vicar who could safely guide a ship to port.
