This is correct. The Catechism instructs that if you have the faculties that you are bound to know your faith and live it. If you do not have the facilities you get a by lol. But is it a sin? I’m not sure that it is a sin, need to research that but I would guess it could be a Capital Sin of Sloth, lazy in faith? But that seems extreme.
