    Okay…

    So my brother gave me a book for christmas – ‘The Catholic Church: A Short History’ by Hans Kung. He wants me to read it so we’ll argue about it.

    And after the first 20 pages, I’m not so thrilled with Kung, and I want to stop reading the book. Has anybody read it, or does anyone know about Kung’s recent work, what I should expect?

    I do not know a whole lot about Hans Kung, but I certainly would like to. I have hear many things about him ranging from that he is a great theologian to he is apostate. I have read small bits of works of which he was the chief editor and they were pretty sound theologically, but other than that the man is a mystery to me.

    Is your brother not Catholic?

    He’s Catholic… just not happy with the Church.

    Honestly, it’s anything & everything. He doesn’t like Church authority, or it’s use thereof. He doesn’t like the teachings, the moral principles, the music, The mistakes that have been made, the mistakes that haven’t been made, the pope, his cardinals, the local priest, everything.

    He likes his godson. And to be the godfather, he has to be a practicing catholic.

    Oh well.

    As far as the music goes just tell him to go to another parish – I’m sure it will have a different liturgy.

    So then what is he happy with? Any other church?

    Yep, and with a few more posts you will move up again. With each one they get spaced out quite a bit more. No one has hit the 4th “rank” yet, but I’m sure it will happen soon enough. Don’t spam the boards to get there though – it’s not worth it. <img decoding=” title=”Wink” /> <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />
