A while back a group of my students and I were walking into a coffeehouse, when one young female student made the statement, “I heard that with the death of this pope the end of the world has started! The next pope will be the anti-christ.” I then started to recall hearing something like that prophesied a few years back.

I started to think, “What would I do different if the end of the world is coming soon I decided, I would pray more, forgive more, draw myself closer to God as I see him, and love others as I love myself.

But what if the “new agers” are correct What if the age of enlightenment is to come soon? What would I do then? I decided, I would pray more, forgive more, draw myself closer to God as I see him, and love others as I love myself.

As I understand it, some of the last words this pope said to the world was, “[b:1hmb0rfi]Do not be afraid[/b:1hmb0rfi]”. That sounds like good advice to me. <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

For me it would make no difference if the enlightenment view point was correct or not. We should be ready to go everyday. Whether it’s now or 20 years from now. Either way, we can’t escape the judgement of God. He alone knows when the time will come and I think for good reason he never wanted us to know the exact date. What you said Ardent is a good thing to do:

[quote:89pmfw6y] decided, I would pray more, forgive more, draw myself closer to God as I see him, and love others as I love myself.[/quote:89pmfw6y]

You should always being doing this.

Speaking of which, doesn’t the Church see the anti-christ as something in spirit form, not necessarily a physical person?

Gosh, I’ve seen tons of things saying that the next pope would bring about the end of the world, etc. And that the next pope will choose a different name and then adding together all these papal names we get 666, etc.

I’ve also heard that the end of the world will come with the next pope who takes the name Peter.

Who knows what’s going to happen besides God? I hope there is somehting that will happen that will prove all these naysayers wrong.

Not sure. I’d have to look it up.
