A few Sundays ago, many Bishops in Massachusetts, decided that they wanted to add 2 mins. to mass. In our local parish, they are giving the congregation more time to meditate after the homily and first and second readings. Also, after communion.
I was really appreciative of that, because back home, we had been doing that for years. It’s very interesting to see how different mass can be on different parts of the world. Mass back home lasted an hour and sometimes over and hour. Here, we are out in 45 mins. and I always wondered how that came to be!
We are also now being asked to bow, before we receive communion. I thought that was a wonderful and respectful idea. That is something that isn’t practiced back home.
Sometimes I think about getting our priest from back home, in contact with our new priest. I think how neat it would be to have them talk about the differences and exchange ideas on what has worked and what has not worked. Networking priests. I actually dream about that.
