InactiveA few Sundays ago, many Bishops in Massachusetts, decided that they wanted to add 2 mins. to mass. In our local parish, they are giving the congregation more time to meditate after the homily and first and second readings. Also, after communion.
I was really appreciative of that, because back home, we had been doing that for years. It’s very interesting to see how different mass can be on different parts of the world. Mass back home lasted an hour and sometimes over and hour. Here, we are out in 45 mins. and I always wondered how that came to be!
We are also now being asked to bow, before we receive communion. I thought that was a wonderful and respectful idea. That is something that isn’t practiced back home.
Sometimes I think about getting our priest from back home, in contact with our new priest. I think how neat it would be to have them talk about the differences and exchange ideas on what has worked and what has not worked. Networking priests. I actually dream about that.

KeymasterI agree that “networking priests” has potential to be a good idea. It could be a place were priests can talk about issues that might come up in their own parishes that maybe other priests have already had experience with.

KeymasterChances are the priests have no desire to network unless they actually know each from a long time ago. Priests sometimes network in their own diocese, but even that can be tough to get them to do.
Priests are often territorial and one might even get offended if you suggest they should contact another priest to get ideas or do it their way.
Not all priests are like this, but I just wanted to throw that out there.

My old rommate (who’s Lutheran) loves it.

KeymasterIt would be interesting to get a priest’s comment on this stuff.
