What bothers me is how Kerry says he is a Catholic and then disagrees with some fundamental beliefs. That’s like saying “I like pizza, except for the cheese, sauce, meats, and vegetables toppings.” It is not really pizza anymore, it is not really true Catholcism anymore.

And get this… I read this article on Yahoo! News dated Fri, Oct 29, 2004 at 5:30pm Central time entitled “Bush and Kerry in Dead Heat- Reuters Poll”. This says that Kerry and Bush are in a dead heat with the polls with Bush having only a slight lead.

Further in the column, I read that Kerry has “solidified his support among women, [b:2ouvuen5]Catholics[/b:2ouvuen5], singles, Hispanics and 18- to 24-year-olds, but has slipped slightly among black voters to about 82 percent” (emphasis mine).

Solidified his support with Catholics? How can so many Catholics endorse such a man?? I’m in the process of converting over to Catholicism and [i:2ouvuen5]I[/i:2ouvuen5] even know where the Church stands on Homosexual Marriage, Embryonic Stem-Cell Research, and most of all Abortion, all of which Kerry endorses whether directly or indirectly. Now how can any Catholic with a good conscience vote for such a person? Maybe it is because they are against the war (which the Pope himself condemned and which I am now against because there are certainly no WMDs in Iraq and therefore it is not an immediate threat), but Abortion and Embryonic Stem Cell Research certainly has killed more unborn Americans than US soldiers who [i:2ouvuen5]chose[/i:2ouvuen5] to fight for our country. Take a look at [url:2ouvuen5]http://www.newadvent.org[/url:2ouvuen5] with a pretty disturbing statistic at the top of the site and then you will know where the real war is being fought, and we are losing.

Sorry to get off the subject Jon but I had to get that off my chest. Any answers as to why the Catholic mass in this country is for Kerry (a so-called Catholic)?

Well, I don’t think it really is behind Kerry. From my experience there is still very much a divide amongst Catholics as to who to vote for. I think the Catholic vote is on par with the rest of the country – split down the middle – at least that’s the sense I get.
