The first thing you may want to point out to someone who is attacking the Church with such flimsy arguments is to point out that they also argue that the Catholic Church was so strong and ruthless that nobody who said anything against it stood a chance. If the Pope, and the Catholic Church had as much power and money as they all claim then there would be nobody at all around then or now who could spread such evil lies. There is no way that the Great and Powerful, bloodthirsty Papacy they claim did and does exist would have allowed it.
