Politics and power trips reign supreme everywhere. I was not raised a Catholic, I’ve seen in in Jewish, Buddhist, Non-Denominational “Christian” Sects, and Denominational Protestant sects too.
Regarding your prejudicial statement about “superstitious beliefs”, the practice of facing eastward is an ancient Christian practice. The origins dating back to Apostolic times, when only the Catholic Church existed, some 1700-1800 years before the “Christian” Sects like the one you claim to belong to came into existance. The practice was to worship facing east where Jesus would appear at His Second Coming.
