Times are changing and Catholic institutions are going to have to find more creative ways to use what little money they have to make it stretch quite a bit farther.

I’ve always felt that parishes (and other organizations) should invest some capital and allow it to grow in order to help the parish grow, but apparently non-profit organizations are not allowed to invest money.

So in that case one would have to have a few wealthy benefactors that pool there money together and invest it, grow it and then donate it once it reaches a specified goal. Or find a way to just donate the dividends as a means of continuous financial support. I think it would be a good, long-term option for Catholic organizations to stay afloat financially and have some assurance of funding.
