The problem was, in part, [b:lacb23vf]how[/b:lacb23vf] Luther went about with his objections. His language became invictive and his actions, escalating with time, led him to heresy.
Luther objected to the sale of indulgences, as he very well should have. But when he did not find support from the bishops, he decided to attack the doctrine of indulgences and the office of the Pope as though that would somehow find greater support.
