The answer is yes. I was just reading a news report that said the pope was also given last rites in 1981 after he was shot.
I don’t see why someone couldn’t receive it twice. Sometimes people recover from their deathly illness, but should that prohibit that person from receiving last rites ever again should they get near death? No.
What I want to know is why CNN.com keeps referrring to it as “last rites of the Roman Catholic Church.” Are there different last rites for other rites? Or is this just the ignorance of the secular media?
