Very interesting how the Bush brothers (George and Jeb) were both at the center of the “life” issue this week. Each sibling took action that it is abhorent that they had to take.
The President has to sign a bill to say that we, as a supposedly civilized society, cannot deliver a baby 90% then proceed to pierce it’s skull with a sharp object and vacuum its brains out until it’s skull collapses.
How disgusting…how absolutely hitleresque.
What is equally sickening is that this is the 8th time the bill was passed by a republican congress. The first 7 it was vetoed by Bill Clinton.
His brother, by the same token, had to sign a law that says that you cannot deny food and water to a human being simply because that human being cannot verbalize a cry for help.
In this case, a republican controlled Florida legislature voted to undo the abhorent decision of a judge who apparently lost his mind.
I have heard it said that, being a Catholic, it doesn’t matter which political party you belong to. You’d have a hard time convincing me.November 6, 2003 at 7:01 am #2207
I think affiliating a particular religious group with a political party is dangerous – especially in terms of the Catholic Church which serves as more of an arbiter between the 2 sides. I will write more on that topic later because I am discussing some very interesting things along these lines in one of my classes (I guess all those thousands of dollars going to the state for an “education” are really worth something after all  ).
Anyway, I can’t believe that there would even be a law that would deny someone food and water because they cannot verbalize that they need it. I mean, that is just purely idiodic! How could anyone with even half a brain make a law like that much less a group of people?
And it’s nice to see some progress on this abortion thing. I think this topic will heat up more as the years pass, especially if Bush is reelected in 2004 and continues to support laws like this. Some of the comments I have on the abortion issue also lead to the comments I said I was going to make earlier so I will not go into those here, but in a separate post. ” title=”Smile” />
