I’ve been a member of several parishes in several states so I thought I had seen most varieties of what’s done at Mass. Well, this Sunday, my current parish did the reading of the Passion very different than what I had ever seen before.

Sometimes I’ve seen the priest read the whole thing, other times I have seen several people do the voices of the various parts of the reading. Well today one man (not the priest) dramatically recited the story of the Passion. It wasn’t a word for word recital of the gospel passage, but it was basically the whole story slightly adapted. We still knelt at the right part.

I thought it was interesting. Definitely something I had not experienced before. The guy seemed to be an experienced thespian or storyteller so it was not poorly done.
