Hi, I have a question about prophecy, end times, etc

The first time I ever heard about antichrist, endtimes chaos, etc. it was from a very devout Catholic friend of my Mom. She spoke of chastisement, disasters, 3 days of darkness, the reign of antichrist, etc…
(though she never mention rapture). As protestants we had never heard of this (1974). This woman was born and raised Catholic, attended Cathlic school in the 1950’s, and went on to college. She claims these belief’s have always been a part of Catholicism. Then I read a book by Scott Hahn, and now this website, that sheds a different light on this whole subject. There’s also Michael Brown’s website, Spirit Daily that stresses this also. I’m very confused.
