CHRIST did not rename him,JESUS is the rock on which his chiurch is built dont twist the word or put anything or anyone above our creator and messiahMarch 20, 2012 at 8:51 pm #10342
This novel doctrine that Peter was not the Rock, was invented by an Anglican bishop in the early to mid 1800’s and is not based on any historical truth. It has been disproven time after time, but contiues to circulate as an infallible proof that the claims of the Catholic Church which come to us from the time of the Apostles are unfounded.
The Catholic Church has taught the same truths that Jesus Himself gave it when he founded the Church on His Vicar, Peter to this day. Newly invented doctrines from Protestant ministers who are “moved” by the “spirit” to “Discover” something that was hidden to the Chrisitan world for 1500 to 1900 years do not have the credentials or marks of the spirit being the Holy Spirit.
Anyone who would put Peter, or his successors above Jesus, is not following the teachings of the Catholic Church. Anyone who teaches that the Catholic Church places Peter, or his successors above Jesus, is ill informed or a liar.April 2, 2012 at 1:54 am #10356
saviorsmessenger – First of all you have to understand that Jesus spoke Aramaic. Thus Jesus used the word “kepha” and not Petros or Petra. For a complete explanation seethis[/url:1uicjti9] link and also this[/url:1uicjti9] Petra in Greek is a feminine name and Jesus would not have given Peter a girls name. Kepha does NOT mean pebble or little stone.
So as LARobert pointed out the Catholic teachings go back to the very beginning. To the CC these novel teachings are nothing new. She has being defending Her teachings since day one. People will come up with “new” insights as though the CC has being so dumb as to miss something obvious and they personally got a revelation from the Holy Spirit and He has revealed the “truth” to them. Sorry, but the CC has had Her teachings even before the Bible was complied. When it was, the Bible HAD to agree with the teachings that were passed down from Jesus to the apostles, from the apostles to their disciples on down the line to the present.
Does anybody actually think the Church, which Jesus promised that the gates of hell would not prevail, has being teaching error for 2000 years? If so, Jesus would have lied and we are all still lost.
