    Thanks, you too!. I can’t believe it’s already here. I haven’t even given much thought to it. <img decoding=” title=”Neutral” />

I am in my 50’s and have always “given” up something for Lent. As a child, I was always allowed to indulge on that which I gave up on Sundays. I thought that was the “Law”. Over the years, I have come to learn that most Catholics have never heard of such a thing. Can someone please clear this controversy up for me?

Latin Rite Catholics do not Fast and Abstain on Sundays during Lent. Eastern Rite Catholics and Eastern Orthodox do, as they count Sundays in the days of Lent.

I am Roman Catholic. Do I or do I not abstain on Sundays?

You would fall under the Latin Rite, as a Roman Catholic. So Sundays are not days that you are required to abstain.
