Do any of you do anything for advent?

Advent kind of seems like the mystery liturgical season because there’s not much said about it (from what I can find).

My wife and I bring out the advent wreath every year and light the candle(s) for that week when we eat supper. I think that’s about the extent of it.

My wife used to do advent calendars when she was little. I guess I never really understood the point of it.

    I really don’t do anything different…<img decoding=” title=”Neutral” />

Especially now with the 3 kids. Anything we are bound to get in the rythm of doing is bound to get interupted.

But you know, it would be nice if we could incorporate something with the kids. Lighting candles in a circle and reading to them sounds nice. [i:22hsx0uv]But[/i:22hsx0uv]…they are certain to want to touch it endlessly.

you could make one out of construction paper (not a 3D model, but a 2D image) and have 4 flames already cut out and add one each week as Advent progresses until your kids are older.

That’s a good idea. I can have them help me make them as well.

Advent calenders are used to count the days of Advent. The ones we had growing up showed different pictures of the Nativity that you could reflect on. It also helps build the anticipation for Christmas Day.
