Calvin was actually a lawyer if I’m not mistaken. King Henry VIII was the founder of the Church of England and, of course, he wasn’t a clergy member. He did, however, split from the Roman Catholic Church for more secular things rather than religious reasons as the other Protestant Reformers did.
