It depends on how you define a false religion.

At the moment, I am inclined to define a false religion as a sect that proposes to be or relate to another religion when it is not or does not.

The early gnostics who professed to be Christian composed a false religion. JWs and Mormons who profess to be Christian compose false religions. Etc.
