I remember listening to Tim Staples explain how in Greek there are different levels/ways of the word “Love”. I found interesting because as you noted, the word Love in English is vague and I would add that it’s also been diminished to something that you can say to an object.

When our Lord asked Peter “Do you Love me Peter?”
Peter responded “You know I Love you”
Our Lord responded “Do you Love me Peter?”
Why did he repeat it? Cause our Lord knew Peter was not talking about the [b:109qgk5e]intense firey love[/b:109qgk5e].

Peter most likely saying “ya I like you, your a cool guy”.
