Many years, this one included I spend a few thoughts trying to figure out if I should indulge in anything on my birthday ( chocolate, wine, etc), that is because so often it falls in lent. This year it is on Good Friday- so it really does require some thought.

But Jon I do like how you have worded the question- not many folks talk about CELEBRATING lent, a good many Catholics talk about lent as some drudgery. I enjoy lent, one reason in particular is that you do not have to explain or defend to anyone your sacrifices or practices, for example” oh come on just have one beer with me” in general people seem to respect your religious wishes when it is lent.
