[quote:3o1jagsu]I feel so lost sometimes regarding this—-like are there not any parents who care about this anymore???? <img decoding=” title=”Confused” />[/quote:3o1jagsu]

Well, I’m sure there are, they just seem to be a rare breed these days.

As for the rest of your post, perhaps this is a social trend where parents think of their kids as more autonomous and can decipher between right and wrong without much guidance. Who knows?

It certainly seems that almost is becoming acceptable these days and that the media at least portrays it that way. I have never seen the movie Titanic for a few reasons – I won’t get into those however.

Anyway, when I was in high school my parish youth director urged everyone at pretty much every chance he could get to not watch that movie because of the sex scene. His overall philosophy on life is if it’s not making you holy then why even bother with it.

He has a good point since we are called strongly by Christ as Christians to not settle for anything less than what Christ would do.

I think some parents just have a lack of commitment to their faith for various reasons, but still feel compelled to have one because it’s what you’re supposed to do in the U.S. Your religion is your identity in America and it has been that way pretty much since the first Europeans came over.

Also, no one wants to be too unpopular so they just go along with whatever is being perceived as cool at the time and therefore some things they do are not very Christian or help one to be a better Christian – such as watching certain tv shows or watching certain movies.
